It was a Monday full of chika and kilig when Mikee Quintos and Hazel Cheffy knocked on the doors of Filipino actress and comedienne Eugene Domingo on the latest episode of Lutong Bahay.
Aside from sharing yummy recipes, they also talked about Eugene's blooming love life and how she met her Italian hubby Danilo Bottoni.
“Hindi ba ang mga pelikula natin, sumasali 'yan sa mga international film festivals? So, mahilig [ang Italy] sa Asian films… And si Danilo Bottoni, my husband, is fond of watching Asian films,” said Eugene.
According to Eugene, it was around 2010 to 2012 when Danilo watched some of her works like Kimmy Dora and immediately thought she would “change his life” despite not meeting each other yet.
While it was love at “first watch” for Danilo, it was different for Eugene when she met Danilo in person.
“Hindi love at first sight; in fact, natakot ako kasi siyempre biglang may mag-a-approch sa'yo, 'di ba?,” Eugene told Mikee and Hazel Cheffy.
She added, “During those times parang medyo, in general, I was exhausted. Plus, parang nag-give up na rin ako sa love. Kasi I was almost 46 then, parang [sabi ko], 'Mayroon pa bang pag-asa 'yun?' parang ganoon.”
In a separate statement, Eugene said, “Inisip ko na lang na, 'O, e, di sige, mag-isa na lang ako.' What I was trying to decide for myself at that time, kasi pagod na ako, is just to be quiet. But then darating din sa point na parang hindi kumpleto.”
Indeed, love found its way to Eugene and Danilo, and eventually, got into a healthy and happy relationship despite having breaks in between due to communication problems.
“Again, nag-give up na naman si Uge, pero hindi ko pa rin siya makalimutan. Ang lakas ng dating [niya sa akin], totoo 'yan. Nabaitan talaga ako sa kabuuan niya. Napaka-sincere at saka his eyes are really speaking to me,” said Eugene.
