Mak Tumang replicates Catriona Gray's 'Mayon' gown for wax figure

By Cara Emmeline Garcia

Talented Filipino designer Mak Tumang has just finished replicating his Mayon gown for Catriona Gray to be sent off to London for the latter's wax figure.

The Pampanga-native unveiled the carbon copy of the iconic gown on his Instagram yesterday together with the caption, “SPOT THE DIFFERENCE. [An] exclusive replica for Madame Tussauds #offtolondon.”

It can be recalled that Mak designed the red, high-slit dress for Catriona Gray when she competed at the Miss Universe 2018.

As the name suggests, the dress was highly-inspired by the Mayon Volcano, a tourist attraction in the province of Albay which happens to be the hometown of Catriona's mother.

The original gown is made of tulle encrusted with Swarovski crystals in a 12-toned color palette that ranged from yellow to dark red.

It's body-fitting, bareback design also features a side cut-out and a high slit that highlighted Catriona Gray's legs when she walked down the runway.

In the comment's section, the former Miss Universe is seen gushing over the replica.

She wrote in Mak Tumang's post, “Omgomgomgomg!”

It was announced early this year that Catriona Gray will be the second Filipina to have a wax figure (https://www.gmanetwork.com/entertainment/celebritylife/news/58045/look-catriona-gray-to-have-a-wax-figure-at-madame-tussauds/story?amp) in the famous museum, the first one being Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach.

The great news was announced by Catriona herself through Instagram where she is seen holding a case full of ceramic eyeballs with the logo of the famous museum.

She simply told fans, “Stay tuned on @MadameTussaudsBangkok, @MadameTussaudsHongKong, and @MadameTussaudsSingapore social media pages for more information.”
