By Marah Ruiz

Spirited Away is a 2001 Japanese animated fantasy film written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki and animated by Studio Ghibli.

It is one of the studio's most popular works and has proved to be both a commercial and critical success worldwide.

It received and Oscar for Best Animated Feature at the 75th Academy Awards and is to date the first and only hand-drawn and non-English-language animated film to win that accolade.

Spirited Away tells the story of a 10-year-old girl named Chihiro who accidentally enters a world full of spirits while trying to move into a new neighborhood.

She works at the bathhouse owned by the witch Yubaba, who turned her parents into pigs, hoping to find a way to return to the human world and transform her parents back to humans.

In one of the movie's scenes, Chihiro asks for work from Kamaji, the six-armed man who works at the boiler room of Yubaba's bathhouse.

He is seen eating a simple meal of shrimp tempura donburi or tendon.

Tempura is a Japanese dish made by deep frying seafood, meat or vegetables coated with batter.

The batter is made with ice water or sometimes sparkling water to keep it light. When mixing, lumps are also left to make a fluffy and crunchy texture when cooked.

Tempura doesn't usually use panko breadcrumbs.
