Garrett Bolden took a trip down memory lane as he talked about his experience of playing John Thomas in Miss Saigon in Guam.

In an exclusive interview with ATM (Adventure. Taste. Moments), the Kapuso Soul Balladeer said he was really nervous since it was his first time venturing into theater acting.

“Kinabahan ako ng husto upon reading it and di pa rin ako makapaniwala,” he said.

Garrett said he first shared the news to his peers in All-Out Sundays and asked for tips and advice from Christian Bautista and Aicelle Santos, who both have experiences starring in theater productions.

“Sila 'yung mga una kong nasabihan tapos humingi agad ako ng payo at mga dapat kong gawin,” he noted.

Garrett also talked about how much he had to prepare even prior to flying to Guam to make sure he is ready for the rehearsals.

When asked what his most memorable moment from Miss Saigon is, he highlighted the emotion he felt during his last show.

“Before ako umakyat for my last scene sa Miss Saigon, tumingin ako sa stage tapos nakatingala lang ako, sabi ko, 'Nagawa ko to.' Umiyak ako, hindi ko napigilan,” he said.

The Kapuso singer added, “It's an experience na I never thought I'll do and I never thought that I'll be able to do well, as well.”

Garrett said he looks forward to doing more theater performances in the future, with Broadway and West End being his dream.

“It's something na I'm really looking forward on doing. I'm trying to look for other auditions. I hope and pray that yung mga Kapuso natin will see me more on those stage,” he said.

Garrett released his debut album, Chapters, in January.
