South Korean indie synth-pop band Glen Check is finally back on the scene with a new extended play (EP), X-Dreams.
It contains a total of five tracks, including the lead single “Good Times.”
In an exclusive video interview with GMA Network, the duo, Kim June-one and Zayvo, talked about their latest album and the message they are trying to convey to fans.
“X-Dreams is about the intersection of different dreams, influences, and experiences that have shaped us over the years,” said June-one.
He also shared why they chose “Good Times” to lead their newest release.
Kim June-one told GMA Network. “We chose 'Good Times' as the first single because it captures the feeling of celebrating life, even the hardest parts that got me here. It felt like the right mood to open a new chapter.”
Although X-Dreams is a symbol of many adventures of Glen Check, the band said there is no specific inspiration for it.
“It's really hard to pick just one (inspiration), and we named it X-Dreams to stay away from specifying a style or a mood for the album. It contains so many ideas and pieces; it's possible to dissect every song and explain what element comes from where, [but] that would be no fun,” said June-one.
X-Dreams is just one of the many projects June-one and Zayvo have worked on since the band's debut in 2011, which helped them form a good dynamic as artists.
June-one said one of the things that helped them maintain a good work dynamic is respect and open-mindedness.
“We try to stay respectful and open-minded with each other. It's also really important to feel what you truly want rather than to logically figure it out. I'm not sure if we're in a place to give advice, but if I had to: think less and feel more,” said June-one.
Following the success of Glen Check's new EP X-Dreams, the band is now ready for more projects.
“We love to try something completely new. A huge scoring project for a sci-fi film would be amazing. It will instantly bring us back to childhood,” Glen Check shared with GMA Network.
Aside from releasing more music, Glen Check is also looking forward to perform for their Filipino fans. “Yes, we really, really want to (visit the Philippines). Hopefully very soon. We probably dedicate “Good Times” [to] our Filipino fans. It's about celebrating every moment, and we'd love to celebrate it with you.”
