Manila Mayor Isko Moreno launches digital health survey

By Dianara Alegre

Manila City Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso launched a digital health survey via Facebook's Messenger.

The effort was to help the local government of Manila City in addressing the residents' needs and concerns amid the imposed Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine caused by 2019 coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.

Hoping for the cooperation of his constituents, Mayor Isko reiteraited the development of the said health survey along with COVID-19 precautionary measures on his FB page on Monday, April 6.

The last step the official asked of his constituents is to abide by the city's newly-launched Digital Health Survey.

“I-Click niyo lang ang 'send message' button sa Facebook page ng meyor ,” he said.

The Digital Health Survey was created with the help of Department of Health (DOH) and the Manila Health Department.

Its main function is to give access to Manileños with the information they needed while the country is fighting the contagious COVID-19.

Prior to this, Mayor Isko and the capital's other elected officials on Saturday, April 4, have agreed to donate their salaries in April to the Philippine General Hospital worth a total of P4.7 million.

He also ordered the closure of the Sampaloc Hospital after five of its frontliners tested positive for COVID-19.

Mayor Isko halted the hospital's operations to give way to the disinfection of the medical facility and allow the health workers to recover after attending to COVID-19 patients, who could have transmitted the virus.

Meanwhile, Philippine senators took swipe at the mayor after his emotional address last Thursday, April 2, where the latter challenged the government officials, including senators, to step up and help the people.

Members of the Senate, spearheaded by their leader, Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III, issued a statement apparently directed at the Manila City Mayor.

According to the Senate President, the senators have done their part in passing the Bayanihan to Heal as One Act, and they have also offered help without “a complete PR team” around them.
