Heidi Klum fully embraced the “Costume Art” also dubbed as "Fashion is Art" theme at the Met Gala 2026 as she arrived at the Metropolitan Museum of Art dressed like a marble statue.
According to USA Today, the German-American supermodel wore a custom sculpted look by Mike Marino that transformed latex and spandex into a marble-inspired masterpiece.
The dramatic ensemble immediately made waves online, with many pointing to Heidi's long history of going all out for costumes, especially during her annual Halloween celebrations.
On Instagram, Heidi shared details about the artistic inspiration behind the look, which was based on “Veiled Vestal” by Raffaelle Monti.
“I love fashion, I love art, and I especially love when the two collide,” she wrote.
“He transformed fabric into sculpture, manipulating latex and spandex with extraordinary precision to mirror the stillness, delicacy, and illusion of carved marble,” Heidi said of Mike Marino's creation.
She added that the design “blurs the line between fashion and fine art” and described it as “a piece of fashion art, reimagined in motion.”
“Every fold, every contour, every detail is intentional, capturing both strength and softness in a way that feels almost impossible,” Heidi wrote. “A one-of-a-kind design that doesn't just dress the body, but elevates it into art itself.”
The 2026 Met Gala, held on the first Monday of May at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, marks the opening of the Costume Institute's “Costume Art” exhibition, this year's theme celebrating the deep connection between fashion, the human body, and fine art through bold, interpretive red carpet looks. Co-chaired by industry icons and supported by leading designers and cultural figures, the annual fundraising event continues its tradition of merging celebrity, creativity, and couture, with this year's “Fashion is Art” dress code encouraging guests to treat fashion as a living, expressive form of artwork.
