In an interview with GMANetwork.com, versatile director Real Florido talked about Dennis Trillo's intriguing 'sunflower' scene in Everything About My Wife, stating, "Dennis never fails to surprise us."
The intriguing sunflower scene from the CreaZion Studios and GMA Pictures' collaboration project, Everything About My Wife, has been making a buzz since it premiered in SM Megamall Cinema 3 last February 25.
The moviegoers, composed of celebrities, media executives and officers, social media influencers, and other personalities, who attended the film's debut screening were surprised after seeing the said scene which Dennis Trillo described as the most daring scene he has ever done to date.
One fan reacted, "I will never see the sunflower the same way again."
Keeping it spoiler-free, Dennis, who plays Dom--an unhappily married man--in Everything About My Wife, dropped a hint by changing his profile picture on TikTok with an image of a sunflower, piquing the curiosity of netizens and those who haven't seen the movie yet.
"[If you know, you know]," he jested before adding #SunflowerNiDom.
Known as the "Kapuso Drama King," Dennis excels in heavy drama roles. It's no surprise that he was awarded Best Actor at the 50th Metro Manila Film Festival. His performance in a romantic comedy showcases his versatility, proving to be a pleasant revelation--this writer can personally attest to that.
It didn't take so much convincing for Dennis to do the sunflower scene, according to Everything About My Wife director Real Florido.
"He knows that this is something that his character would do. We've all seen how fun and crazy Dennis can be with his videos on TikTok, so this shouldn't come as a surprise. But still, Dennis never fails to shock us with his amazing talent as an actor," the versatile director said in an online interview with GMANetwork.com.
It's a clear advantage for Dennis since he did the scene with his wife, Jennylyn Mercado; their established chemistry adds a bonus.
Direk Real explained, "I usually start working on the chemistry way before we start grinding. Setting the tone of the working relationship is really important for me. Before the shoot is the best time to make the actors feel safe and build trust with their co-actors and with me as their director. This has always been an effective pre-work for me based on my experiences working with Julia Barretto & Diego Loyzaga (Will You Be My Ex), Janine Guttierrez and JC De Vera (Bakit Di Mo Sabihin), and Elisse Josson & Mccoy De Leon (Habangbuhay).
The award-winning filmmaker also noted that professionalism of the actors is instrumental in shaping their characters.
He added, "In Everything About My Wife, I allow Jennylyn, Dennis and Sam to give life to the characters based on the discussions that we have. It's always a breeze working with actors who are not just experienced but also mature and secure enough to be on the set and perform as expected."

Everything About My Wife is showing in more than 200 cinemas nationwide.
The rom-com film is also set to be screened in the 2025 Manila International Film Festival on March 6, 9:00 p.m., at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood Boulevard, Los Angeles, California.
