Fans of the newest love team of Klay and Fidel, also known as FiLay, of the hit fantasy-portal series Maria Clara at Ibarra, rejoice! It seems they are really endgame according to series writer Suzette Doctolero.

In an interview on 'The Howie Severino Podcast' Suzette revealed that from their initial writing, Klay (Barbie Forteza) is bound to be paired with Fidel (David Licauco) despite the two having fights all the time at the start of the series.

“Alam namin na si Klay ay dadalhin namin kay Fidel,” she said.

The series writer also said that they went with the pairing because they knew there is a big possibility of the public liking it.

She added, “Yung repartee ni Klay at saka ni Fidel sa simula na aso't pusa sila at pinag didiskusyon nila yung magkaibang mindset nila o pananaw nila, yun yung kumiliti sa tao.”

Suzette also clarified many of the viewer's speculations and wishes that Klay will end up with Crisostomo Ibarra (Dennis Trillo), saying that “ang mayroon lang possibility ay magkagusto si Klay kay Ibarra.”

“At hindi malayong mangyaring magkagusto siya kasi, I mean, Dennis Trillo, guwapo si Ibarra. Plus idealistic na lalaki, mabait na lalaki, gentleman so imposibleng hindi magkagusto si Klay na isang Gen Z na napaka-vocal at napaka-bukas,” she added.

Barbie, meanwhile, in an interview, admitted that it was David's charm that helped fuel the love team.

“Click 'yung FiLay kasi si David meron siyang aura na very ano, K-Drama," she said.

With the transition of the series to Jose Rizal's novel from 'Noli Me Tangere' to 'El Filibusterismo,' fans have expressed their worries that they won't see the dynamics between their new love team.

However, in a separate interview, David assured viewers that there is still more to see of the FiLay love team.

“Marami pa kayong makikita sa aming dalawa ni Barbie,” he said.
