With a hit series ongoing and a much-awaited movie adaptation of a comic series, 'Unica Hija' lead star Kate Valdez proved that now is her era.

Kate Valdez gives off the "main character" energy" in her latest magazine feature.

She shines like gold in the February cover story of Village Pipol, showing glitz and confidence--a mark of a true star.

Kate talked about how she has come out of her shell, after having her way out of her comfort zone.

For the past years, the Kapuso actress had always been playing the bad girl on TV but it is only now that she got her first-ever role as a protagonist in the GMA afternoon drama Unica Hija.

"First time kong… kailangan mag-mukhang kawawa. This is really something else. As in, kakaiba siya. Parang, 'Grabe, ito pala 'yung nararanasan ng mga bida?' Now, I know!," she told Village Pipol.

Kate shared the spotlight along with her fellow artists such as in Onanay and Anak Ni Waray vs. Anak Ni Biday which she co-headlined with Mikee Quintos and Barbie Forteza respectively until Kate was offered to play the lone lead in Unica Hija.

"Malaki rin 'yung naging advantage ng show na Unica Hija sa akin. Talagang nahila niya ako of being too comfortable sa comfort zone ko. Eto talaga 'yung show [na nag-encourage sa akin] na 'Kate, you have to get out of there. Kailangan mong umalis diyan. Alam kong kaya mo 'to. Let's go. Let's do this!"

Fortunately for the first-time bida, Kate's new acting routine has been well-received by both regular and occasional viewers.

"Hindi ko akalain na maaawa sila sa akin. Paano ko sila mako-convince na kawawa ako? Kasi mukha akong kontrabida, especially my features, 'di ba?"

With a hit series ongoing, Kate proves that now is her era as she unlocked another acting milestone.

She is set to break into the regional Asian TV market after being named as the lead of the television adaptation of horror comic series Dreamwalker.

Dreamwalker is a graphic novel by Mikey Sutton, a Filipino-American pop culture blogger who is the editor and founder of Geekosity. Sutton revealed that the comic series was written for Kate even before she was attached to star in the adaptation, modeling and naming it after her.

It follows a paranormal Pinay vlogger named Kat who travels throughout other parts of the Philippines, investigating supernatural events. However, she develops extraordinary powers after being the only survivor in a bus accident in Pampanga. Kat discovers that she has the ability to enter people's dreams and steal objects from them to fight demons and monsters.

She can use those items until the dreamer wakes up; thus, they vanish. Kat uses her
powers to fight monsters based on Philippine myths like “tikbalang”, “manananggal”
and “aswang”.
