Talent management agency Star Magic has released a statement on behalf of Kim Chiu to clarify matters surrounding the actress-host's complaint against her sister, Lakambini Chiu.
On its social media pages, the agency addressed a 2023 interview in which the It's Showtime host spoke about her sister, noting that the interview "is currently being viewed by the public."
"While the statements made by Kim at the time were true and reflected the circumstances then, they no longer represent the present situation," Star Magic said.
The agency then clarified the timeline of events.
"Since then, Kim has discovered material information that came to light in 2025, which prompted her to take legal action. As a result, a criminal complaint filed by Kim against Ms. Lakambini Chiu is currently pending before the proper authorities," the statement read.
Star Magic added that the actress-host remains firm in her decision to pursue the complaint through the legal process.
"This statement is issued solely to clarify the timeline of events and to avoid any misunderstanding arising from previously recorded statements," the agency explained.
"As the matter is now the subject of ongoing legal proceedings, we respectfully ask for the public's understanding and for Kim's privacy to be respected while the case takes its proper course."
Last December, Kim announced that she had filed a qualified theft complaint against her older sister, Lakambini Chiu.
According to the statement released by Star Magic at the time, Kim decided to take legal action after discovering "serious financial discrepancies" in her business.
She also assured fans of her commitment, saying, "Despite this painful situation, I remain committed to my work, my supporters, and the continued growth of my business ventures. I also continue to pray for healing and resolution for everyone involved. Thank you for your support, compassion, and respect during this time."
