Kylie Padilla and Ruru Madrid recalled feeling dejected from the criticism they received for landing the role of Amihan and Ybrahim in GMA Network's 2016 remake of Encantadia.
In a YouTube video posted on Thursday, January 21, the Kapuso on-screen couple reminisced about how they turned the hate messages into motivation for their characters on the hit fantasy drama.
He also shared how fulfilled he felt after winning Best Drama Actor at the 31st PMPC Star Awards for Television, sharing the title with Kapuso Primetime King Dingdong Dantes, who played the role of Ybarro in the original Encantadia.
Similarly, Kylie revealed her encounter with bashers after taking on the character previously played by multi-awarded actress Iza Calzado.
She said, “Sinasabi nila [na] hindi raw ako deserving. Pangit daw ako umarte tapos nag-poll pa sila [kung] sino favorite sang'gre nila [at pinakamababang votes] si Amihan.
The Kapuso actress also mentioned that she only overcame the public's negative perception of her when she closely worked with Director Mark Reyes in conceptualizing a better portrayal for Amihan.
Kylie and Ruru's love team, dubbed as KyRu, was introduced in the 2016 requel of GMA's iconic fantasy drama Encantadia.
They later joined forces for other television series, namely The Cure, TODA One I Love, and their most recent project as of this writing, Regal Studios Presents: My Fairytale Hero.
