Filipina-American actress Liza Soberano on the film 'Forgotten Island': “I hope this film makes us proud and helps create a future where the next generation grows up knowing that our stories belong everywhere.”
Liza Soberano is beaming with joy over the worldwide premiere of the Pinoy-inspired animated film, Forgotten Island, where she plays one of the main characters Raissa.

In her Instagram post, the Filipina-American star shared photos of her with her castmates during the celebration of the film's world premiere held at the George Lucas Museum of Narrative Art.
Liza expressed her excitement now that the movie is out for the audience to witness.
“It's such a joyful, funny and heartfelt movie about family, friendship and finding the courage to chase something bigger for yourself. I've loved this film from the moment I became a part of it, and knowing that it finally belongs to audiences feels so surreal,” she wrote.
Liza then thanked the people behind Forgotten Island for their passion, talent, and for taking care of all of them through their journey. She also expressed her gratitude to H.E.R. for being by her side in the film, as well as to DreamWorks for trusting her to give life to Raissa.
Liza expressed how meaningful it is for her to see Forgotten Island reach many people around the globe. The 28-year-old star also hopes that the film would make Filipino people proud.
“What makes this moment hit me the hardest is knowing what this film can mean for Filipinos around the world. Growing up, we didn't get to see ourselves very often in films of this scale. Knowing that Filipino kids will get to walk into a theater, see pieces of their culture and families on the big screen, and recognize themselves in these characters means more to me than I can put into words.
“I hope this film makes us proud and helps create a future where the next generation grows up knowing that our stories belong everywhere — especially on the biggest screens in the world,” she went on.
Liza also thanked Filipino fashion designer Mark Bumgarner for her custom piece at the world premiere. She then ended her post with a powerful note saying, “FILIPINOS, THIS ONE'S OURS!!!”
In Forgotten Island, Liza plays the role of Raissa, while H.E.R. portrays the character Jo. The powerhouse cast includes Lea Salonga, Dave Franco, Manny Jacinto, Jenny Slate, Jo Koy, and more.
