
The war drama movie Mindanao dominated the 38th Luna Awards held last Friday, December 18.
The Luna Awards is held annually since 1983 by the Film Academy of the Philippines (FAP).
Mindanao raked in a total of six awards including Best Picture, Best Director for Brillante Mendoza, and Best Actress for Judy Ann Santos.
Juday (Judy Ann's nickname) proudly posted on Instagram a photo of her with the trophy while thanking the team behind the movie.
Jansen Magpusao and Meryll Soriano took home the Best Actor and Best Supporting Actress trophies, respectively, for the indie drama, John Denver Trending.
The box-office hit romantic drama Hello, Love, Goodbye starring Kathryn Bernardo and Kapuso heartthrob Alden Richards, meanwhile, won Best Editing for Marya Ignacio.
The late television show host German Moreno, endearingly called Kuya Germs in showbiz, was honored with the Lamberto Avellana Memorial Award.

Mindanao tells the story of a mother caring for her severely ill child and her soldier husband who is fighting rebel forces.
The movie had won several awards since its debut in October 2019 as part of the Busan International Film Festival.
Mindanao was then fielded in as one of the entries for the 45th Metro Manila Film Festival that same year where it won 11 awards including Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Actress, and Gender Sensitivity Award.
It was announced in November that Mindanao will represent the Philippines in the prestigious 93rd Academy Awards, popularly known as the Oscars, to be held on April 25, 2021 at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California, USA.
