Barbie Forteza, David Licauco, and Andrea Torres win awards for 'Maria Clara at Ibarra' anew

Kapuso stars Barbie Forteza, David Licauco, and Andrea Torres have earned awards from their roles in the hit series Maria Clara at Ibarra, this time from an academic award-giving body--proving the series is a hit among the younger generation.

The 12th Northwest Samar State University Students' Choice Awards for Radio and Television (NSCART) honored people in the field of radio and television media, and the cast of Maria Clara at Ibarra won big.

Barbie took home the Best Actress in a Primetime Teleserye while Andrea won the Best Supporting Actress in a Primetime Teleserye, and David won Best Supporting Actor in a Primetime Teleserye.

Maria Clara at Ibarra also earned awards at the recent 5th Gawad Lasallianeta Awards and have been shortlisted for the New York Festivals TV & Film Awards.

Maria Clara At Ibarra has been shortlisted under the Entertainment Program: Drama category. The drama follows Klay Infantes (Barbie Forteza), a nursing student who is transported to the world of Dr. Jose Rizal's novels Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo. Her love interest, Fidel, is played by David while Andrea plays the role of Sisa.

Maria Clara at Ibarra is now available for streaming on Netflix.
