Michelle Dee

Michelle Dee makes sure to have her advocacy with her, even in her outfits.

Miss Universe Philippines Tourism and current contestant in the 2023 Miss Universe Philippines pageant Michelle Dee is staying true to her advocacy for autism awareness by including the advocacy's colors in her Runway Challenge look.

In the almost minute-long video posted on the Empire Philippines YouTube channel, Michelle can be seen wearing a modernized terno with a weave made out of different shades of green, red, and yellow. On her Instagram account, Michelle explained that these are the global and national colors for autism awareness.

Including the colors for autism awareness in her Runway Challenge is just the latest way that Michelle has been continuing her “lifelong mission” of raising awareness for autism.

Just last week, Michelle posted multiple photos and a couple of videos of her at Autism Society Philippines' Angels Walk on her Instagram account. The Autism Society Philippines' Angels Walk is an annual activity where people with autism and their friends and family walk to raise awareness. Along with Michelle were her fellow Miss Universe Philippines contestants. The Autism Society Philippines is “a national non-profit dedicated to the well-being of Filipinos who live on autism spectrum and those who care for them.”

At the start of the year, Michelle posted a video announcing the resumption of the annual Angel's Walk, after the global coronavirus pandemic caused the cancellation of the walk over the past few years.

Michelle first revealed her two siblings with autism, Mazen Marquez and Adam Lawyer, back in 2019. It was also back then that she called her autism advocacy a “lifelong mission.”

Michelle also supports other advocacies, such as the rights of the LGBTQIA+ community. During Pride Month last year, Michelle posted photos of her wearing a special edition T-shirt by the brand COS, who donated 100 percent of the profits to specific LGBTQIA+ organizations.
