By Jashley Ann Cruz

K-pop girl group Red Velvet's lead rapper and vocalist Joy is said to be taking a break due to health reasons.

SM Entertainment, Joy's agency, revealed, “Joy recently visited a hospital due to her poor condition and following an examination and counseling, received the opinion from the doctors that treatment and rest were required.

“Therefore, Joy will not participate in any schedules for the time being and will instead take a break to recover her health. We apologize for causing concern to the fans and we ask for your understanding that this decision was made following thorough discussions with Joy, looking out for her health. We will do our best to help Joy meet her fans in good health soon, and we will let you know as soon as possible once Joy will resume her activities,” they further said.

A few hours after SM Entertainment's statement, concert producers PULP Live World also announced that Joy won't be able to participate in 'Red Velvet 4th Concert: R to V' in Manila.

They shared, “Please be informed that JOY will not be able to participate in the 'Red Velvet 4th Concert: R to V' in MANILA due to health condition. Therefore, 4 members will participate in 'Red Velvet 4th Concert: R to V' in MANILA concert as scheduled. We ask for your kind understanding. Thank you.”

Although fans are saddened by the news, they expressed their concern for Joy and are giving her their full support.

Get well soon, Joy!
