With the successful first week of the hit mecha adaptation Voltes V: Legacy, one of its stars, Matt Lozano, is venturing back into music as he is set to release his newest single, “Liham.”

In his interview in the GMA Regional TV morning show Mornings with GMA Regional TV, Matt revealed that he will be releasing a new song soon, titled “Liham” under GMA Music, which he wrote during the pandemic lockdown.

Matt then shared what the song is about, “Ang 'Liham," ginawa ko ito para makapag-inspire ng mga Kapuso natin, of course, na may pinagdadaanan. Dumadaan sa matinding kalungkutan, 'yung mga gustong maka-move on,” he said.

He added, “Ginawa ko itong kanta na 'to to spread happiness and para ma-overcome nila 'yung heartbreaking experience na nararanasan nila, based from my own personal experience.

“Pero I just want to let you guys know na kaya ko nilikha itong kanta na 'to, to make a better version of myself and gusto ko malaman ng mga tao na happy ako ngayon,” he continued.

In a previous interview on the Updated with Nelson Canlas podcast, Matt shared how music saved him from depression because of his frustration about getting fit but not seeing any results despite the efforts he has made.

“Ang tagal ko pong ganoon. Ang tagal ko po na magpapayat, kailangan guwapings, kailangan fit na fit ako para 'pag nag-audition 'yong mga ibang kalaban ko sa audition, mas mag-shine ako, and na-depress ako na 'bakit ganoon? Hindi talaga ako pumapayat, e. Anong gagawin ko?” he shared.

However, after entering a church he saw while on a drive and realizing that he still has music in his life, he started to pick and bring himself up through music.

“Kaya nga po sobrang thankful ako, e. Kasi kung hindi ko na-experience 'yong time din na 'yon, hindi ako magiging ganito ka-strong na personality,” he said.

When asked about his favorite line from the song, he answered that there were actually two.

“'Yung una, 'yung chorus mismo. 'Ayoko na, tama na, gusto ko nang maging masaya.' 'Yun 'yung pinaka-favorite ko,” he said.

He added, “Tapos meron akong isang nag-hit, nag-hit kasi sa'kin, sa emosyon ko lalo nu'ng sinulat ko 'yung sa last part na 'Nandyan ka ba? Tama na ba? Dating buo ngayo'y wasak na wasak na. Ayoko na.'”

Aside from his newest single, Matt was also set to sing the ending theme song of Voltes V: Legacy, '"Chichi Wo Motomete" ('Looking For My Father" in English).

He then thanked the fans for supporting the series and expressed how overwhelmed he felt reading the great comments about the series.

“Napakasarap po sa pakiramdam na na-appreciate nila 'yung pinaghirapan namin ng sobrang tagal,” he said.

He added, “Kaya naman, thank you, thank you mga Kapuso for supporting Voltes V: Legacy.”
