With the different roles he's playing, Kelvin Miranda shares how he manages each and every character he plays.
With two films coming out this year and a new series that is doing well, it would seem that Kelvin Miranda has already a lot on his plate.
He does have a lot going on in his career, but there's nothing that he can't manage. Even though he has to switch from one role to another several times, the Walang Matigas na Pulis sa Matinik na Misis star seems to be managing just fine.
In his interview on the online channel Kapuso PR Girl, Kelvin shared that one of the most important things he does to be able to portray his character well is to talk with the director.
“Para sa'kin, s'yempre, mine-make sure ko yung bukod sa sarili ko, s'yempre tinatanong ko 'yung direktor kung saan kami magtutugma o kung saan kami magkakasundo ng pagbuo ng isang character,” he said.
He then admitted that it's actually hard to build a character and make it into something that they want to see on-screen. He knows that different directors have different takes and expectations.
“So para sa'kin, bawat direktor na nakakatrabaho ko, tinatanong ko sila kung ano 'yung gusto nilang maging portrayal ko,” he said.
He added, “S'yempre susundin ko 'yung sasabihin ng direktor 'tsaka ko 'yun lalagyan ng sarili kong flavor or touch of Kelvin.”
What he does is he would pick apart his character, identify his flaws, quirks, and habits, and use his own interpretation of his character's life experiences to add depth and color to his role.
“Mahirap siya e, actually. Pero 'yun 'yung mga proseso na ginagawa ko. Kinikilala ko mabuti 'yung sarili ko and kinikilala ko mabuti 'yung character na ipo-portray ko and then gagawa ako ng ilang research para dito at saka ako mag-i-immerse sa sarili ko,” he said.
“Then dadalhin ko na 'yun sa shoot. And then, isa-suggest ko sa direktor, kung tatanggapin niya, dun kami magco-collab.”
Kelvin's movie with Miles Ocampo, Missed Connections reached top one in the movie streaming service Netflix. Not only that, but he will also star in the movie adaptation of the book Mga Kaibigan ni Mama Susan by Bob Ong.
Kelvin also starred in the drama series Unica Hija. At this writing, he is carrying out the role of Gary in the action-comedy series Walang Matigas na Pulis sa Matinik na Misis.
