ALV Pageant Circle issues statement on Herlene Budol's participation in the Miss Tourism World pageant

The ALV Pageant Circle has issued a statement clarifying the involvement of Herlene Budol in the 2023 Miss Tourism World pageant to be held in London this November.

The statement, which was posted in the organization's different social media accounts, began with the group stating that they had not yet made an official confirmation regarding Herlene's participation in the Miss Tourism World pageant.

The group also clarified that the Miss Philippines Tourism title that was awarded to Herlene during the Miss Grand Philippines 2023 coronation night is a “generic title with no contractual obligation to any international pageant.”

The statement then went on to say the organization has never intended to “instigate any conflict of interest” with other pageant organizers, saying that they regard them with “mutual respect.”

The ALV Pageant Circle statement also teased that Herlene will instead compete in a different “international tourism pageant” that they will be announcing soon.

The Hiyas ng Pilipinas pageant had earlier posted on its official Facebook page that the Miss Tourism World pageant franchise belongs to them, meaning they will be the one to send a representative to the London-based pageant.

The mix-up regarding Herlene's participation may have stemmed form the fact that Justine Felizarta competed in the 2022 Miss Tourism World pageant after winning the Miss World Philippines-Tourism title the previous year. She would go on to be the first runner-up in the Miss Tourism World pageant and was the one who handed the Miss Philippines Tourism title to Herlene during the Miss Grand Philippines coronation night.
