Ysabel Ortega shares getting charged $15 for a picture in Los Angeles

By Bianca Geli

Kapuso actress Ysabel Ortega had an unanticipated experience during her current trip to Los Angeles, California.

On Saturday, the Firefly actress posted a TikTok video warning tourists to be wary of costumed performers offering to take pictures together for a fee.

What Ysabel thought was a random moment to take pictures cost her $15.

"Alam niyo ba, first day pa lang namin sa LA, nabudol na kaagad ako. 'Yung hotel namin nasa Hollywood Boulevard, and we went to Walgreens,” she said. “Nakatayo lang kami sa Hollywood Boulevard, ina-appreciate lang namin.”

"May lumapit na Spider-Man and Mickey Mouse tapos ang bait nila. Sabi ko, 'Ang bait naman nila!' Pero medyo na-feel ko na na parang something's off," she added.

Lumapit sila [to take pictures], hindi naman sila naningil, so akala ko okay lang. So, nag-smile ako, sige.

“Tapos siningil ako ng $20,” the 25-year-old actress added.

Ysabel remembered being told at immigration that she doesn't look 25 years old.

“So sinabi ko, 'Sir, I'm just a minor'...Nalusutan ko naman ng $15.

She then gave a friendly reminder to tourists visiting Los Angeles, “So, kung may lalapit sa inyo na Spider-Man or Mickey Mouse dito sa Hollywood Boulevard, 'wag kayong magpapa-picture.”

Ysabel just turned 25 last month and welcomed her special day with a black-and-white photoshoot.

She is among the stars of Firefly, along with Miguel Tanfelix, Alessandra de Rossi, and Euwenn Mikaell, which was hailed as the Best Picture at the 2023 Metro Manila Film Festival.

Ysabel visited California to represent Firefly at the Manila International Film Festival. The film bagged several awards at the event, including Best Supporting Actress (Alessandra de Rossi), Best Director (Zig Dulay), Best Screenplay (Anj Atienza), and Best Picture.
