Silent Sanctuary signs with Universal Records

Silent Sanctuary is back in the game!

OPM rock band Silent Sanctuary is reopening a chapter on their story as they reconnect and renew ties with Universal Records in a special contract signing event today, September 9, held at Quezon City.

Silent Sanctuary members Sarkie, Poch, Ronnie, Allen, Anjo, and Kim waved hello to the press with smiles on their faces, signifying their excitement for their new chapter with Universal Records after managing themselves independently since 2018.

They were joined by Universal Records Managing Director Kathleen Dy-Go and Universal Records Operations Manager Peter Chan.

“Excited ako na makatrabaho ang [Universal Records], at the same time, looking forward din kami sa mga puwede naming gawin kasi, I think, 'yung potential namin as a band, [...] I think magiging better 'yung banda…” Silent Sanctuary's synthesizer Poch Villalon said.

Poch also highlighted his insights as someone who has been in the band for a few years, including bassist Ronnie and violinist Kim, and said, “[Kaming] mga bagong members, excited din kami na makatrabaho 'yung mga OGs [na miyembro ng Silent Sanctuary].”

Meanwhile, Silent Sanctuary's frontman, Sarkie, explained that their coming back to Universal Records was an initiative to expand the reach of their music.

“Naniniwala kami sa music namin, pero feeling namin, hindi 'yun sapat para ma-push 'yung kanta at maparinig sa ibang tao kung wala talagang media, [...], marketing, [at] promotion na [record] label lang ang may kakayahang gumawa noon,” he explained.

Now that they are starting anew with the big music label, Silent Sanctuary excitedly shared that they are preparing a lot of new things for fans, including remastered versions of their hit songs, vinyl records, and a major concert next year.

“Marami pa po kaming gustong gawin na music [dahil] feeling namin, hindi pa namin nakukuha 'yung peak namin as musicians,” Sarkie said.

“[Hopefully], more albums [at] sana magkaroon din kami ng major concert kasi hindi pa namin nagagawa 'yun. [...] Sana makapag-release [din] kami ng vinyl under Universal [Records]…” he added.
