Ruru Madrid

Ruru Madrid teases a comeback project as he trains again in Filipino martial arts.

Primetime action hero Ruru Madrid is a very busy man these days.

While in the thick of work for an upcoming movie, he has also started training for what he teases to be a comeback project.

Ruru shared a video of him training with Filipino martial arts expert Ronnie Royce Base.

The actor is seen warming up, stretching, and then doing drills with arnis sticks and a wooden bolo.

"Pagsasanay at paghahanda para sa mas matinding pagbabalik," Ruru wrote on the caption of his post.

Ruru is actually preparing for the second season of 2022's most-watched TV show Lolong where he played the titular Lolong, a young man who can communicate with a giant crocodile named Dakila.

There has yet to be an official announcement of the show's return, but key people from production have been sharing their preparations for its comeback.

GMA Public Affairs program manager Mark Norella, who has previously served as Lolong's executive producer, has posted about several creative meetings, castings, promo and marketing meetings, and martial arts training on his personal social media pages.

Ruru himself is very involved in the early stages of production as he has sat in on several meetings with Lolong's creative team.

Aside from Lolong, Ruru is also busy with the movie Green Bones where he will star alongside Kapuso Drama King Dennis Trillo.

Green Bones is the entry of GMA Pictures and GMA Public Affairs for the 50th edition of the Metro Manila Film Festival in December 2024.

The film will be under the helm of award-winning director Zig Dulay and is written by National Artist for Films and Broadcast Arts Ricky Lee, and 2023 MMFF Best Screenplay winner Anj Atienza.
