Ruru Madrid won the Best Supporting Actor at the MMFF 2024 Gabi ng Parangal for the movie Green Bones, produced by GMA Pictures and GMA Public Affairs.
Ruru was emotional when his named was called, besting the likes of Sid Lucero, Jhong Hilario, Kokoy de Santos, and David Ezra.
During his acceptance speech, Ruru Madrid looked back on all the awards he was nominated for, which he lost.
"Buong buhay ko, lagi po akong underdog. Lagi akong talo, na-a-underestimate, lagi akong binababa," he started.
In the end, Ruru reminded everyone how important it is to have in oneself.
In Green Bones, Ruru Madrid plays the role of prison guard Xavier Gonzaga. Dennis Trillo, who won the Best Actor, plays the prisoner Domingo Zamora, who is jailed for the murder of his sister and her daughter. Domingo is now up for parole but Xavier makes sure that he remains behind bars.
In 2025, Ruru Madrid will also be back on TV as the Primetime Action Hero Lolong in Lolong: Bayani ng Bayan, airing on GMA Prime in January.
Congratulations, Ruru Madrid!
