Kim Sae ron

Kim Sae-ron's father said, 'Our family also went through hell together, and even now, our suffering has not ended.'

Last month, authorities confirmed the passing of South Korean actress Kim Sae-ron.

According to reports, Seoul Seongdong Police Station stated the actress was initially discovered by a friend, with whom she had planned to meet. Based on their findings, officials declared that Sae-ron's death was presumed to have been a suicide and treated as an unattended death.

"We believe she made an extreme choice and plan to handle it as a suicide," a police official was quoted as reported by Yonhap News Agency.

Weeks after her death, Sae-ron's family continues to seek justice for their lost loved one.

According to Allkpop, Sae-ron's father and family members expressed distress in a recent interview with Daily Sports.

The grieving family stated, "Because of YouTuber Lee Jin-ho, other cyber-wreckers, and the media that indiscriminately copied their videos, Sae ron suffered immensely. Our family also went through hell together, and even now, our suffering has not ended."

Family members also shared their frustration, "People talk so easily without knowing the hell we've been through. Should we have monitored her 24 hours a day? Should we have admitted her to a mental hospital? I heard the news while I was at work and rushed to Sae ron, but she got into a car accident and was taken straight there without even receiving proper treatment."

Kim Sae-ron's father added how unforgivable Lee Jin ho and the online media did to his family. He expressed anger and disappointment on people twisting reality to fit false narratives that ruin his daughter and family.

"On YouTube Shorts and other platforms, there are false claims about Sae ron visiting the ossuary and opening the urn, and rumors that our family squandered the money she earned. Because of these things, my family, especially my two daughters, are being branded unfairly," he stated. “Do we have to explain every day that this is fake news? Even if my wife and I can endure it, what about Sae ron's younger siblings? How do I protect my remaining daughters? If strangers start pointing fingers at them, are we supposed to live our entire lives under false accusations? I desperately want to remove those videos and set the record straight."

The father admitted that he had considered confronting Lee Jin-ho directly. But he refrained due to fear that his words would be recorded and misused. "I wanted to call him and curse at him, to tell him that what he's saying isn't true. But I held back because I knew he might twist it for his own benefit. I feel so wronged, angry, and devastated," he said.

Kim Sae-ron's father revealed that he plans on taking legal action against the content creator and other haters. "Fortunately, there are people supporting me, and a law firm is currently gathering evidence," he firmly said. "I believe so many absurd YouTube videos and articles have been posted because we haven't taken legal action yet. For the sake of my remaining family, I will move forward with legal proceedings with those assisting me."

Allkpop stated the actress' parent received a long text message after the interview. It was exactly translated: "Reporter, I am texting you late because I have something to say. You know I am a serial killer, right? We are already dead. What kind of mother or father can continue living after losing their beloved child? I am holding on and holding on, thinking about my remaining children, but I keep having dark thoughts. Especially my wife--she keeps blaming herself. It's incredibly difficult for me too. Please help me tell the truth, even just once. I am sorry, and thank you."

Sae-ron, known for her acting, debuted in 2009 and starred in films such as A Brand New Life and The Man From Nowhere. She also appeared in popular K-dramas, including Hi! School Love On, Can You Hear My Heart, and The Queen's Classroom. Her most recent project was the 2023 series Bloodhounds.
