The year 2025 has been difficult for the Original Pilipino Music (OPM) community, following the passing of three of its most iconic pillars: Pilita Corrales, Nora Aunor, and Hajji Alejandro.
Asia's Queen of Songs, Pilita Corrales, known for her distinct vocal style and her iconic “backbend” that captivated audiences for decades, died on April 12.
Not long after, the nation grieved once more with the loss of National Artist for Film and Broadcast Arts, Nora Aunor--a symbol of Filipino artistry--on April 16. Most recently, fans said goodbye to “Kilabot ng mga Kolehiyala” Hajji Alejandro, who helped define an era in Philippine pop music, after his passing was announced on April 25.
With the passing of these three OPM icons, fans and fellow artists alike are united in mourning and paid tribute to the legacies they left behind.
In an exclusive interview, Divine Diva Zsa Zsa Padilla also shared her heartfelt thoughts on the loss of these music icons.
"It's been really tough and painful. These were incredible artists that I've looked up to- so talented, so generous," she said.
As someone who has shared the stage and the spotlight with all three, Zsa Zsa reflected on how their contributions helped shape the foundation of OPM.
"I feel lucky that I got to share the same stage with them. They really opened doors for all of us in OPM, and I will always be grateful for that," she added.

Pilita Corrales enjoyed a stellar career spanning over six decades. Her influence shaped the landscape of OPM. She has more than 135 albums, she recorded in various languages, including Filipino, English, Spanish, and Cebuano.
Superstar Nora Aunor passed away due to acute respiratory failure. She was laid to rest at the Libingan ng mga Bayani on April 22, which President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. declared as a Day of National Mourning in her honor.
Meanwhile, Hajji Alejandro's passing was confirmed on April 22 by his manager, Girlie Rodis, and his family. Earlier this year, Alynna shared in an interview that Hajji had been battling stage four colon cancer and had suffered a seizure due to an infection.
