Red Velvet, an SM Entertainment girl group has become one of the top K-pop idols not just in South Korea, but around the globe.
The name Red Velvet represents the group's signature concept of duality. “Red” stands for the playful and upbeat, while “velvet” symbolizes sultry and edgy.
The group debuted in 2014 composed of Irene (Bae Joo-hyun), Seulgi (Kang Seul-gi), Wendy (Son Seung-wan), and Joy (Park Soo-young). Its fifth and youngest member Yeri (Kim Ye-rim), joined in March 2015.
On March 21, 2022, the group released their comeback mini album 'The ReVe Festival 2022 - Feel My Rhythm' and the music video for its title track "Feel My Rhythm."

According to news reports, SM Entertainment waited for five years since f(x)'s debut, before they launched Red Velvet. They were originally a four-member group and they officially debuted in KBS's “Music Bank” on August 1, 2014.
The oldest member is Irene, while Yeri, is the youngest. They have an eight-year age gap.
Their fandom is named ReVeluvs- the combination of words is a combination of "Red Velvet" and "love.”
Among the five, Seulgi was the first one to join the record label SM Entertainment in 2007. Meanwhile, Wendy before joining in 2012, studied in Canada and the United States of America.
They are certified chart-toppers with a whole range of hits like “Bad Boy,” “Psycho,” “Peek-A-Boo,” and “Russian Roulette.”
Did you know that Red Velvet's music was also featured in an OST of a K-drama. One of the hit soundtracks of “Start-Up” was from the group titled “Future.” In addition, their song was also heard in the animated movie “Trolls World Tour.”
Red Velvet members have proven that they can also shine aside from being part of an idol group. Irene and Seulgi collaborated on a mini-album titled “Monster.” Wendy also released a solo mini-album “Like Water” and Joy with her “Hello” album.

Red Velvet performed in Pyongyang North Korea in 2018. Reports cited that North Korean leader Kim Jong-un is a fan of the idol group.
The long wait is over for ReVeluvs with the release of the mini-album “Queendom” on August 16, 2021. According to the group, their “Queendom” song is a pop dance song with the message that: "We are all 'Queens' of our lives and that together, we shine more beautifully."
On March 14, 2022, SM Entertainment announced the postponement of Red Velvet's upcoming special live event titled '2022 The ReVe Festival: Prologue' after members Irene, Joy, and Yeri tested positive for COVID-19.
On March 21, 2022, Red Velvet dropped their comeback mini album 'The ReVe Festival 2022 - Feel My Rhythm' along with the music video for the title track "Feel My Rhythm."
According to SM Entertainment, prior to the release of Red Velvet's six-track EP 'The ReVe Festival 2022 - Feel My Rhythm,' the album exceeded the 510,000 pre-order sales mark.
