BTS is taking over the webtoon world with '7Fates: Chakho,' a webtoon series produced by the group's label HYBE.
7Fates: Chakho's first episode was released first on January 15, with the story described as an "urban fantasy" set in a city from the future.
The story is inspired by Joseon Dynasty's tiger-hunting officers called chakhogapsa. 7Fates: Chakho is HYBE's reinterpretation of the folklore of the bear and tiger as well as traditional Korean folklore about tigers.
The webtoon tells the story of seven boys who are connected by fate as they overcome hardships together and mature in the process. The seven members create a tiger hunting team called Chakho, and they face the chaotic world together.
Suga portrays Cein, who has a tragic past of almost being eaten by a tiger. V plays Jooan, who falls in love with a tiger. J-Hope takes on Hosu, who has been kidnapped by a tiger. Jin plays Hwan, an ordinary archer who loses his family to a tiger. RM is Do-geon, a crime expert who has lived a difficult life. Jimin plays Haru, a rock that guards the gate to the world of the tigers and becomes human. Jungkook portrays Zeha, a half-human and half-tiger character.
Each character was influenced with BTS's members's real personalities, HYBE stated.
Here's a look at BTS as in their teaser photos for 7Fates: Chakho and what they have to say about their characters
V represents the character Jooan who falls in love with a tiger. Jooan is a pure mind who doesn't focus on other's flaws, similar to V who has an easygoing manner.
Jin's character is Hwan, someone who has suffered the painful experience of losing his family from a tiger attack.
Hwan is an archer who eventually becomes a tiger-hunter. Just like Jin, Hwan has a playful and mischievous demeanor.
Suga's 7Fates: Chakho character is Cein who escapes a tiger attack where he was almost eaten alive. At a time where he is recovering from the traumatic incident, he meets the other characters who take him out of his darkest point.
Similar to Suga who is known for having an introspective personality, his fellow members in BTS bring out his lively personality and happiness.
J-Hope played Hosu who was kidnapped and harmed by a tiger. J-hope mentioned in an interview that Hosu has a complex personality and is known for having “golden eyes.” Whether it is with his actual eyes or his personality--ARMYs will find out in the webtoon.
Jimin's character Haru is actually a special rock that turned into a human. After being alive for so long, he has immense knowledge and wisdom. Jimin is known for his masculine vibe, amazing dancing skills, and tough exterior--similar to a rock.
BTS's leader RM is similar to his character Do-geon who has strong authority skills. Do-geon is someone who has fought through adversity to make sure the world is safe. He is a crime expert who is skilled in weaponry and is both mentally and physically strong.
Jungkook is Zeha, a half-human and half-tiger who uses his tiger abilities to protect his friends, much like Jungkook in real life who is the group's cheerful and helpful maknae or youngest.
