Three South Korean acts entered the Global Recording Artist Chart of the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) for 2022.
The organization, which represents the recording industry worldwide, released its annual chart on February 22.
According to IFPI, the award is “according to an artist's or group's worldwide performance across digital and physical music formats during the year, from streams to vinyl, and covers their entire body of work.”
Global group BTS placed second in 2022. The band made history after consecutively clinching the first place in 2020 and 2021.
SEVENTEEN also landed a spot on the chart, ranking 6th in 2022, while Stray Kids followed at 7th place.
Taylor Swift topped the 2022 chart for the third time, after winning in 2014 and 2019. She placed second in 2021.
Here's a rundown of IFPI's Top 10 Global Recording Artists in 2022.
Taylor Swift bagged first place last year. IFPI said her latest album, Midnights, “powered her return to the top of the IFPI Global Artist Chart."
Korean supergroup BTS ranked second in 2022. This is their fifth appearance in the IFPI chart since they first entered in 2018.
Drake placed third in 2022.
Singer-songwriter Bad Bunny was in fourth place last year. IFPI said he is the “first ever artist from Latin America to enter the Top 5.”
Clinching last year's fifth place is The Weeknd.
South Korean boy band SEVENTEEN charted at number 6 in 2022.
Stray Kids debuted on the chart at 7th place.
Harry Styles entered the chart in 2022 at number 8.
Jay Chou is the first Taiwanese artist to appear on the IFPI chart at 9th place.
Ed Sheeran completes the Top 10 global recording artists of 2022.
