Rufa Mae Quinto

Rufa Mae Quinto has just arrived in the Philippines from the U.S. on January 8.

Upon her arrival, the actress surrendered to the National Bureau of Investigation in relation to a case she is facing following an arrest warrant issued by a Pasay court.

According to Balitanghali, Rufa Mae was on a flight from San Francisco, California with her family and landed at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 at past 5:00 a.m.

NBI Chief Jimmy De Leon said Rufa Mae's lawyer Atty. Mary Louise B. Reyes coordinated with the NBI for her voluntary surrender.

Rufa Mae had a medico-legal examination before being brought to a Pasay court.

A statement from her lawyer Atty. Reyes to Sparkle reads:

Nananawagan at nakikiusap po kami sa publiko at sa mga media, let's avoid rushing to judgment based on inaccurate and incomplete information.

The actress and comedienne is facing a case connected to the issue of Dermacare, the same company involved in the arrest of actress-entrepreneur Neri Naig.

Additionally, the actress is set to post bail amounting to PHP1.7 million in exchange for temporary freedom.

Boy Abunda confirmed in a live telecast of Fast Talk with Boy Abunda this afternoon that PHP1.7 million is the bail paid by Rufa Mae for her temporary release.

“I don't know if I have to say this, pero nabayaran po ng downpayment si Rufa Mae.

"We've been trying to get in touch with other parties involved, pero pagdating po kay Rufa Mae at Atty.

Boy was Rufa Mae's manager for a long time and still maintains communication with his former talent.

Meanwhile, here are other celebrities and showbiz personalities whose names were used to extort money from the public.
