Kiko Matos on Baron Geisler: 'A strong opponent and with a heart of gold'

By BEA RODRIGUEZ

The controversial bar fight of actors Baron Geisler and Kiko Matos concluded in their Universal Reality Combat Championship (URCC) mixed martial arts exhibition match last Saturday (June 25) at Valkyrie in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig through a unanimous draw.

After weeks of training and hitting back at each other, the two fought a clean fight inside the cage under MMA rules. Kiko stated, “In the end, they declared our duel as a draw. As I am writing this now, I would like to honor the decision that has been made. Both of us trained hard and neither of us gave up. Still, sportsmanship wins.”

The actor even recalled how their rift impacted his current situation, “It has been a roller coaster ride these past few weeks. At this point, whenever I look back upon everything that happened, I feel very humbled. From the bar fight, to getting kissed, to spraying "BEER" at my opponent, and being in the ring, I am just in awe.”

Though nobody lost, Kiko said that what’s important is that they have both settled their rift and that there are far more important issues to be addressed. He confirmed, “Ang mahalaga ay nagkaayos na kami ni pareng Baron at mas marami pang issue na mas mahalaga [kaysa] sa walang kwentang away namin ni Baron.”

In an interview after their fight, Baron claimed that his co-actor should’ve won due to the amount of damage he amassed. The comment didn’t go unnoticed since the former praised him on his Facebook post, “I would like to give credit and my respects to Baron Geisler for not giving up and taking all the hits. Baron Geisler is a strong opponent and with a heart of gold.”

Lastly, he thanked his supporters, “Maraming salamat sa lahat ng sumuporta sa akin! Hindi po tayo nabigo.”
