As Alden Richards enjoyed further stardom, the Kapuso heartthrob became the Philippine’s Pambansang Bae. And with this moniker that embodies a national reputation, Alden has never fell short of demonstrating that he truly deserves the title.
While there are a lot of reasons why Alden is our Pambansang Bae, we’ve listed down the top seven reasons why he holds a special place in our hearts.
1. Alden Richards is undeniably charming.
Alden reinvented the '90s expression “kilig to the bones.” The mere mention of his name or his unpretentious presence created a grander craze, something “kilig hanggang bone marrows.” His good looks disregard classes as he charms a lot of people regardless of age, gender, social class, and race.
2. He is serious about his craft.
Even before the kalye-serye phenomenon, Alden has been recognized for his acting and singing chops. Early into his showbiz career, the Pambansang Bae received the German Moreno Youth Achievement Award, and the Best Drama Actor award from the PMPC Star Awards. Alden is also a multi-awarded recording artist; his GMA Records album reaching 8x Platinum status.
But, despite all the achievements under his belt, he continued to practice good work ethics.
3. His family is top priority.
Enjoying stardom may come with a hefty price tag, but Alden has always set aside time for his family and loved ones. He dedicates everything he does for his family and gets his daily motivation from them.
4. He remains humble and loyal.
Alden skyrocketed to fame but he managed to keep his feet grounded. Never was there a time that people complained about Alden’s poor attitude on and off cam. He never forgot the people who helped and supported him back when he was just beginning to make a name for himself. His celebrity status never got into his head, and his humility and loyalty have even gained notice from the top executives of GMA Network and the other brands he has represented.
5. He inspires people.
Others might not know but Alden is not an overnight success. He was rejected a couple of times as he attempted to chase after his artista dream; he didn’t even make it to the Top 60 of StarStruck Season V. However, he didn’t give up and rather opted to see the greater purpose in his life. While he may be known for making ladies scream for kilig, he makes a greater mark for being a source of inspiration to be more dedicated in whatever we are doing, to pursue our dreams, and even just to be patient with success and love.
6. He is God-fearing.
Alden knows he cannot do much without God. He acknowledges the power of prayer and God’s perfect timing. His commitment to his faith may even be witnessed in his two albums ‘Wish I May’ and ‘Say It Again’ which includes songs of worship.
7. He is never selfish with his success.
Alden’s success was never about him. It is about his family who taught him to dream and to pursue it. It is about the people he met and worked with along the way. It is about Maine Mendoza who continues to witness and share a great part of his journey. And it is about the fans who never cease to show their support and the people whose lives Alden continue to touch.
