Celine Dion performs hours after her mom passed away

By Racquel Quieta

The iconic Canadian diva Celine Dion has proven that the show must indeed go on, when she performed hours after her mom had passed away.

Celine's 92-year-old mother died just hours before her Miami concert last January 17, which is part of her Courage World Tour.

Like a true professional, Celine came through and performed for the Miami crowd.

She gave a touching speech about her mom:

“I'm pretty sure that you heard the news about my mom passing away early this morning. But I'm doing okay. My mom was 92. She was ill for quite a while. And we knew she wouldn't be with us long. Two days ago, we got a call from the nurses who were taking care of her so well, saying that her time was coming soon. Very soon. So last night, I joined my brothers and sisters in Montreal and I spent the evening at her bedside. We told stories. We sang songs. We hugged each other. And we said our goodbyes. We are pretty sure that mom waited for us to be all together before (she passed).”

Watch her courageously talk about her mom's passing:

Celine also sang Over the Rainbow as a tribute to her mom. She ended it by saying, “Thank you so much. I love you all. Thank you for my mom. Good night.” Watch the beautiful and emotional tribute:

Our thoughts and hearts go out to Celine Dion and her family. May she continue to have the courage she needs to get through this difficult time.
