READ: Kobe Bryant and daughter Gianna laid to rest last week

By Cara Emmeline Garcia

NBA superstar Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna were finally laid to rest last Friday, February 8th, at a Southern California cemetery following their tragic helicopter crash together with seven other people.

This news was confirmed by the Los Angeles County official when they released the death certificates of Kobe and his 13-year-old daughter last Tuesday (February 11).

According to the document, the father-daughter tandem is buried at the Pacific View Memorial Park in Corona del Mar, California.

The burial site makes sense though as the Bryants are Catholic and that their parish's chapel is only a 10-minute drive away.

On February 24th, a memorial service for both the Lakers legend and his daughter is planned at the Staples Center in Los Angeles which can hold approximately 20,000 people.

The other victims of the crash were Gianna's teammates Alyssa Altobelli and her parents John and Keri, Payton Chester and her mother Sarah, assistant girls basketball coach Christina Mausterm, and the helicopter pilot Ara Zobayan.

Continuous grief

Last Monday, Kobe's wife Vanessa wrote on Instagram about the loss she and her family had been feeling.

“I've been reluctant to put my feelings into words. My brain refuses to accept that both Kobe and Gigi are gone. I can't process both at the same time,” she wrote.

“It's like I'm trying to process Kobe being gone but my body refuses to accept my Gigi will never come back to me. It feels wrong.

“Why should I be able to wake up another day when my baby girl isn't being able to have that opportunity?! I'm so mad. She had so much life to live.

“Then I realize I need to be strong and be here for my 3 daughters. I'm not with Kobe and Gigi but thankful I'm here with Natalia, Bianka, and Kapri.

“I know what I'm feeling is normal. It's part of the grieving process. I just wanted to share in case there's anyone out there that's experienced a loss like this.

“God I wish they were here and this nightmare would be over. Praying for all of the victims of this horrible tragedy. Please continue to pray for all.”
