It's a sad day for the Filipino entertainment industry as veteran actor Domingo “Menggie” Cobarrubias passed away earlier today, March 26. He was 68.

The actor reportedly died of pneumonia complications at 8:20 AM today at the Asian Hospital in Alabang.

His wife, Gina Jorge Cobarrubias, posted a short but sweet message on Facebook thanking her husband for the “30 wonderful years” with her.

Furthermore, she asked for prayers of strength to help her face one of the most difficult moments of her life.

She wrote, “Goodbye, my love. Thank you for the 30 wonderful years. I love you.

“Dear God, please give me the strength to be able to face this very difficult moment of my life.”

Similarly, one of Menggie's nephews, JM Cobarrubias, shared his fondest memory with the actor.

In a post on Facebook, JM shared that his Tito Menggie acted as a father figure to him and his brothers.

He wrote, “Noong bata pa ako, siya 'yung unang nagparamdam sa akin ng tanggap ang pagkatao ko.

“Kaya pala sumasagi sa isip ko itong si Tito Menggie lately. Kaya pala napapaisip ako na hindi ko pa nasusuklian ang kabutihan niya sa akin noon, kaya pala naaalala kong hindi ko pa siya nabigyan ng kahit isang Christmas gift kapalit ng taun-taong niyang pagbibigay ng aguinaldo sa aming magkakapatid noong panahong kapos kami sa pera.

“Malaki utang na loob namin sa kanya dahil naging parang ama namin siya.

“Isa siyang mahusay na aktor pero laging sinasabi sa na mas proud siya sa narating ko on and off camera. Ang lungkot na hindi ko man lang siya nakita, napasalamatan at nayakap bago ang araw na ito.”

According to reports, Menggie's family is still waiting for the results of his lab test to see whether or not the pneumonia complications were due to coronavirus.
