Earlier today, NBI spokesperson Ferdinand Lavin confirmed that NBI has asked Mayor Vico to explain his alleged violation of the mentioned COVID-19 response act.

This caught the ire of Filipinos, with the hashtag #ProtectVico trending at number one in the Philippines and worldwide. Celebrities, in particular, posted their support for the Pasig City mayor.

It can be remembered that the Department of Justice requested for compassion for Senator Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III despite violating quarantine protocols and breaching the safety measures of Makati Medical Center.

Angel and Zsazsa Padilla also shared their opinion, stating that Mayor Vico was not deserving of the subpoena.

Zsazasa also pointed out in a series of tweets, "Bakit ganun. Bwisit. Nakakagalit.”

YouTuber and indie artist Janina Vela also expressed her disgust towards the government.

She said, “Frontliners are dying. Funds are being misplaced. People are rioting from lack of relief goods. Workers are starving. People are violently being arrested. and NBI is using their resources to subpoena a mayor for doing everything he can for his people? No. Words. #ProtectVico”
