Celebrities react to government official's urge to probe Vice President Leni Robredo

By Cherry Sun

Celebrities take to social media their ire and frustrations after a government official from the Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC) wants Vice President (VP) Leni Robredo to be investigated for allegedly competing with the efforts of the national government amid the COVID-19 crisis.

A day after NBI summoned Pasig City Vice Mayor Vico Sotto for an alleged violation of the Bayanihan Heal as One act, government officials are now on the lookout for the donation drives and efforts of VP Leni.

PACC Commissioner Manuel Luna stressed that the vice president's activities are compromising the work of other government agencies tasked to provide relief assistance, mitigation, and rehabilitation during this time of the COVID-19 outbreak.

A report on GMA News quoted the commissioner saying that he urges for an investigation of VP Leni's “illegal solicitations, actions that compete with, or calculated to undermine national government efforts in this time of public health emergency or national calamity.”

These allegations sparked another outcry among celebrities who expressed their sentiments on social media.

Janine Gutierrez pronounced her bafflement, saying, “How is this possible???? Kung mabilis umaksyon at nakatulong agad, ibig sabihin ginawa para maka-kompetensya ang gobyerno?”

Meanwhile, Bianca Gonzales and Chito Miranda stressed that the vice president is only performing her duties.

Zsazsa Padilla tweeted that NBI should prioritize more pressing matters instead, while indie singer-songwriter Bullet Dumas haplessly concluded that the whole month of April has started as a joke.
