Catriona Gray raises P2.3M for Smokey Mountain families
Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray and non-government organization have gathered P2.3 million cash donations two months after Catriona Gray announced the No Work-No Rice campaign.
In a video posted on Instagram, Catriona thanked everyone's generosity.
"Together with all of your help and generosity, Young Focus has been able to raise $47,000...that's 2.3 million pesos for our ongoing No Work-No Rice campaign, allowing us to feed over 6,000 vulnerable Filipino families in the Smokey Mountain area.
"This aid has been incredibly helpful in allowing families to stay safe in this time of no work or income."
Catriona also admitted feeling hopeless at first when she saw the poor situation of the Smokey Mountain families amid the coronavirus pandemic.
She continued, "Upon hearing the news I felt a sense of hopelessness, with the restrictions and staying at home, what could I possibly do to help?
"I'm not sharing this for public praise.
"Good work is just as valuable even if they are publicized or not talked about, but I wanted to thank all the people who have given generously alongside
of me.
"Thank you so much, and God bless all of you.
Meanwhile, Catriona Gray's iconic "Mayon" gown has also been recently replicated by Filipino designer Mak Tumang and will be sent to London for Catriona Gray's wax figure.
