'Terrace House' cancels the rest of the season following death of cast member

The current season of Japanese reality show Terrace House has been canceled following the death of one of its cast members, 22-year-old Hana Kimura.

Fuji TV, the network behind the show, have expressed their condolences to Hana's family and have decided to end the season, called Terrace House: Tokyo 2019-2020.

"We would like to express our sincere condolences for the death of Hana Kimura, who appeared on the program. We also deeply mourn the bereaved families. Regarding Terrace House: Tokyo 2019-2020, we have decided to cancel production. We take what happened very seriously, and will address this in a sincere manner," a statement on the show's official website reads.

Hana died of an apparent suicide after receiving harassment and cyberbullying due to her appearance on the show.

The reality show has two remaining episodes that have already been filmed before going on hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Terrace House is a popular reality show franchise that currently has five seasons and one movie. It gathered a cult following after being released on streaming site Netflix.
