Beauty queens Michelle Dee and Kelley Day aired their concerns over the announcement of the general community quarantine via Instagram live yesterday, May 31.

During the live broadcasting chat, the Miss World Philippines 2019 and Miss Eco Philippines 2019 shared their worries about the well-being of the Filipinos who will be returning to work today, June 1st.

Kelley Day recounted how she observed the growing number of people going outside since the shift from the enhanced community quarantine to its modified version on May 16.

Adding, “I am against lifting the GCQ for the safety of the people but I know that there's just no choice because the economy is collapsing and people need to work.

“People would be losing their minds by now. It's been two months plus and people need to let out --- whether it's going out shopping just to buy a t-shirt --- just to have that sense of normalcy [in their lives].”

Michelle, on the other hand, is hopeful that Filipinos will again show their sense of resiliency as we brave a new normal during the pandemic.

“I think we would be able to adapt,” she said.

“Like, all the establishments, the network, we're all just trying to adjust towards the new normal because I don't think we'd ever get to a point where it was pre-quarantine...unless we see a vaccine, but that isn't happening until the next year.

“I just hope that everybody maintains the right mindset and be cautious, maintain hygiene, maintain social distancing, unless you really, really have to [go out].”

That being said, Kelley reminded her viewers to remain vigilant when it comes to the virus since we are battling against an invisible enemy.

“I think that's the most important thing to point out for everyone. That, just because the quarantine has been lifted doesn't mean it's safe to go out and stuff. You need to be as cautious and as alert as to when you first found out about the virus,” she advised.

On May 28, President Rodrigo Duterte announced that the National Capital Region will be put on general community quarantine which will ease the lockdown starting June 1st.
