Actress Geneva Cruz has voiced out her concern about controversial US black-white inequality issue that has been the center of protest not only in America but in other countries as well.

As a non-white person, the actress related how she valued her brown or Morena skin growing up.

“I am thankful that being kayumanggi, brown, or morena never bothered me as a child. I wore it like a cape every single day because it always made me feel like a superhero…made me feel strong and beautiful.

“My parents didn't care if we stayed under the sun for too long basta may sun protection kami, or if we looked light, tan, dark, or darker because they still saw us and loved us just the same,” she said.

Given that the majority of Filipinos have dreamt of having fairer skin, Geneva stressed that all skin colors, especially “kayumanggi,” are all beautiful.

“I know some Filipinos dream to be maputi, and that's alright too, preference naman ang kulay kasi, sa totoo lang lahat ng kulay ay maganda, but to me, brown has always been beautiful.

“When people tell me that my cousins and a sister of mine are pretty because they have such flawless light skin, I feel extremely proud and happy as their relative.

“But then I also tell myself I am pretty with my flawless morena skin, too,” she added.

Since these day's core protests around the world have focused on the “Black Lives Matter” campaign, she reminded the public to learn to love themselves as they are.

“I believe that unconditional self-love starts at home, that's why I am forever grateful to my parents for their kindness and for loving us unconditionally since we were kids.

“My heart breaks for every human being who is being judged and even killed because of the color of their skin, It is wrong and it should be stopped.

“Our Black brothers and sisters never said that only Black Lives Matter, they know All Lives Matter, but they need help with “Black Lives Matter” because their lives are in danger,” she added.

Then Geneva advised Filipinos to embrace their morena skin.

“And to all my fellow Pinoys who have naturally brown skin, wear sunscreen every day to protect your skin but embrace your beautiful skin dahil walang kasing ganda ang kulay ninyo, yan ay tatak Pilipino,” she noted.

Meanwhile, At age 44, Geneva still radiates beauty and youthfulness and it clearly showed on her latest birthday photos.
