Pinky Amador issues statement on viral cursing video, 'I am truly sorry, pero...'

By Cara Emmeline Garcia

“There is no excuse for that behavior,” penned actress Pinky Amador after a video of her cursing at her building's staff had gone viral on social media last Saturday, June 5.

In the six-minute video clip, Pinky is shown shouting at several members of the staff in an office that was uploaded online by netizens Melchor Fajarda and Paolo Amador.

In the now-deleted posts, they said the argument transpired about three in the afternoon at a condominium-hotel in Makati on May 22, 2020.

A few days later, the acclaimed actress has finally issued a statement on social media saying that while her actions were unwarranted, it was all for a good reason.

She told the public, via her management ALV Talents Inc, “Please understand, however, that my emotion was the product of countless minutes of worrying for my safety and that of my neighbors, following-up with building administration and talking to my very emotional neighbors and friends.”

Based on the post, Pinky justified that the management of the condo-tel started accepting 59 Filipino OFWs without informing its residents that the hotel would be designated as a quarantine facility.

“The residents were not notified about the designation, not the influx of these returning Filipinos, and that was a cause for alarm not just for me but for all the residents.”

She added, “As of 04 May 2020, the administration did not send any notice about the incident, issue any safety COVID-19-related protocols, and delayed disseminating any such information to residents thus risking everyone's safety in the building.”

Pinky said she began fearing for her safety at her own home and some of her neighbors were equally upset as her.

“That is what fueled my ire when that video was taken, since some tenants have been calling me, in tears, with fear for their health, and that of their family members.

“We simply wanted them to be transparent with us about the goings-on in the building, and to inform us about any systems they have in place. I cannot count the number of times I have tried to communicate this. That was utterly frustrating.”

As for the video being leaked online, the actress described the action as “malicious, vengeful, and a violation of the anti-wire tapping act.”

“Since I have started living in this building, I have made friends with my neighbors who have included me in this building's community… What the administration fails to understand is that their actions have an impact not just on their health, but that of the residents' too.

Being responsible means being responsible for everyone, not just yourself, but also others.

“I am not perfect, far from it. Under these stressful times, when pushed to the limit, how far will you go to protect your loved ones? Sa mga nasaktan ko, I am truly sorry, pero ipinaglaban ko lang ang karapatan natin mabuhay ng ligtas sa sakit,” she concluded.
