EXO's Sehun to make big screen debut in 'The Pirates' sequel

By Marah Ruiz

EXO's Sehun will mark his big-screen debut in the upcoming period adventure film The Pirates: Goblin Flag.

His participation for the movie has been announced today, June 16, by the movie's production and was confirmed by his label SM Entertainment through the official Twitter account of EXO.

In the film, Sehun will play a handsome pirate who specializes in archery.

South Korean news outlet Sports Seoul reports that he bagged the role out of many other actors who auditioned for it. He will also go to action school to train for his scenes in the movie.

The Pirates: Goblin Flag marks Sehun's big screen debut after acting in online series like Secret Queen Makers and EXO Next Door and made-for-web film Dokgo Rewind.

He will be credited as actor Oh Sehun instead of EXO's Sehun to differentiate his work as an actor and as an idol.

With the confirmation of Sehun's participation, the casting is finalized and the movie will go forward with filming in late July.

Actors Kwon Sang-woo, Running Man star and Sehun's Busted castmate Lee Kwang-soo and 2020 Baeksang Arts Awards Best TV Actor Kang Ha-neul are also confirmed to be part of the movie.

The Pirates: Goblin Flag is the sequel to hit 2014 period adventure film The Pirates which starred Crash Landing on You actress Son Ye-jin.

Aside from the movie, Sehun is also gearing up for a second album and a July comeback with fellow EXO member Chanyeol under their sub-unit EXO-SC.
