Comedian-singer Betong Sumaya gave netizens an exclusive peek into the making of the musical play 'Parokya Bente Dos' featuring some of the classic hits of OPM band Parokya ni Edgar.

In an exclusive video uploaded on the YouLOL comedy channel, Betong had a chance to interview playwright and musical director Vince de Jesus, who wrote the 'Parokya Bente Dos' play.

Director Vince shared the challenges of creating the world of Bulong (Michael V.) and Birdie (Kim Domingo).

“Nag-meeting kami ni Direk Ceasar Cosme with Bitoy and may mga songs ang Parokya [ni Edgar] na pinili, magde-depende talaga sa isusulat mong situation, characters kung ano 'yung song.

“May mga pinalitan na words para lang bumagay.”

He added that his creative process for writing 'Parokya Bente Dos' is different from the way he was used to doing it.

“Mas sanay ako na sumulat ng sarili kong music tsaka sarili kong script, pero ang challenge dito existing music ng Parokya ni Edgar, very famous group, everybody knows Parokya, so paano mo siya gagawan ng kuwento and of course may brand ng Bubble Gang--masaya, pilyo, baliw. So nag-collaborate din si Bitoy.”

The flagship comedy program of GMA-7, the country's the biggest TV network will be streaming the star-studded musical show titled 'Parokya Bente Dos: A Laugh Story' for 72 hours starting 12 a.m. of June 27 exclusively in the YouLOL channel.

'Parokya Bente Dos: A Laugh Story' follows the life of a simple guy named Bulong (Michael V.), a die-hard fan who has built his dreams around an actress, Birdie Aguilar (Kim Domingo) and the countless adventures he had to go through in order to fulfill his life-long dream of becoming her leading man on and off screen.
