Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo star Lee Joon-gi is officially back in the Korean drama scene with a mysterious new series, Flower of Evil, with actress Moon Chae-won.

According to reports, the drama tells the story of Baek Hee-sung (Lee Joon-gi), a man who hides his past and pretends to be in love with his wife, Cha Ji-won (Moon Chae-won). As a detective, Cha Ji-won begins to feel suspicious about her husband and eventually finds herself facing the truth.

The teaser begins with a picture-perfect image of the couple. However, the glass wall reflecting their lives shatters into tiny pieces revealing a mirrored image in a darker, colder setting.

The Baek Hee-sung on the other side is handcuffed and makes piercing eye contact with the Cha Ji-won, first on the other side and the one directly in front of him.

In the background, the actress's voice is heard saying, “I didn't know anything about the man I loved.”

While Baek Hee-sung adds, "The man who pretended to love and the woman who even loved the danger."

In an interview for GQ Korea, Lee Joon-gi details how the upcoming drama posed as a challenge for him to explore what else he can deliver as an actor.

He said, “It felt like a challenge I would have had to inevitably confront sometime in the process of building my career.

“I'm putting in the effort to connect the subtle tension that arises from trying to fool a loved one with the characteristics of a thriller.”

When asked to describe his co-actor in the drama, Lee Jong-gi said, “She is very quiet and serious -- the complete opposite of me.

“Thanks to that, it was a big help in constructing my character.”

Who's ready to watch Lee Joon-gi on the small screen once more? Flower of Evil will premiere next month, July 22.
