Jasmine Curtis-Smith defends AKTOR from controversial claim

By Dianara Alegre

Descendants of the Sun actress Jasmine Curtis-Smith defended the principles of the newly established league of Filipino actors AKTOR from a controversial allegation claimed by a netizen, on Thursday, July 2.

The group AKTOR hopes to create a community of actors who will stand up against social issues. It also aims to change the public notion that actors only have a shallow role in the society.

As a member of the said group, Jasmine quickly defended the objectives of the association from a netizen who implied that they might be supporting “leftist groups.”

Kagaya ng LFS [League of Filipino Students], basic na taktika po nila is Agitate, Organize, and Mobilize.

Among its members are Janine Gutierrez, Carlo Gonzalez, Gabbi Garcia, Gabby Eigenmann, Glaiza de Castro, Khalil Ramos, Lauren Young, Meryll Sorian, Michael De Mesa, Mikoy Morales, and many more.

Dingdong said about AKTOR, "Bilang mga responsableng mamamayan naming gagampanan ang aming 'papel' sa lipunan. We are the industry's co-creators and collaborators.

"We are the country's storytellers. We will work with you in building a stronger nation--one act at a time."
