By Dianara Alegre

Kapuso actor Alden Richards serves as the newest ambassador of Philippine government's anti-COVID-19 communication campaign dubbed as “BIDA.”

The said campaign is a joint initiative of the Department of Health, United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Laging Handa Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF), and National Task Force on COVID-19.

The initiative, which was released on Wednesday, July 8, promotes the practice of preventive health measures such as "Bawal walang mask, I-sanitize ng mga kamay, Dumistansiya ng isang metro, at Alamin ang totoong impormasyon tungkol sa COVID-19."

“The Philippine government, with support from USAID, kicked off today the initial phase to implement the national #COVID-19 communication campaign dubbed 'BIDA.'

“Featuring popular model-actor Alden Richards as the BIDA ambassador, the campaign was publicly announced during President Rodrigo Duterte's pre-SONA (State of the Nation Address) activity that live streamed earlier today.

“The kick off was done via the premier showing of the BIDA campaign TV advertisement. A multi-media communication campaign, 'BIDA' promotes preventive healthy behaviors that people need to practice as we rise above the pandemic. #BIDASolusyon," USAID said in its Facebook post.

Meanwhile, the Centerstage host has been relentless in spreading awareness about COVID-19 as he has been posting pandemic-related information on his social media accounts.

He also updates his followers about the development of COVID-19 cases in the country.
