'Wish Ko Lang' couldn't have returned in a more opportune time, as Filipinos across the country struggle amid the COVID-19 pandemic that has taken the world hostage.

The current health crisis has proved to be one of the toughest times for humanity as it has claimed hundreds of thousands of lives and continues to destroy millions of livelihoods worldwide.

But this July, a ray of hope peeks out from the clouds of uncertainty and fear, as Vicky Morales, the Fairy Godmother ng Bayan, returns with all-new episodes of 'Wish Ko Lang'.

Bringing hope and inspiration

Vicky is very excited to wave her magic wand again and grant wishes amid the pandemic.

“Dream come true para sa buong team namin ang pagbabalik ng Wish Ko Lang. We all love this show and hated to see it go last February.

“Pero ngayon na binubulabog tayo ng pandemyang ito, we all need to see more stories of hope, of happiness, and of people helping each other get back on their feet.

“This is how the idea of bringing back Wish Ko Lang started.

“We're all excited to bring families together again, to help breadwinners get back on their feet, and to bring back hope in our hearts.

“We want to reach as many as we can and we will be giving away much more than we normally would kasi gusto namin, talagang tiba-tiba ang ligaya.”

The 'new normal'

Like everyone else, the 'Wish Ko Lang' production team has adapted to the ongoing health crisis by implementing safety protocols during shoots.

Vicky will still be personally visiting the people they will help, but there will be changes in how they interact.

“I will be putting on my mask and going on location with the team to surprise our wishers myself.

“Aside from the usual safety protocols, we've made it a point to avoid enclosed venues to minimize risk of contagion.

“We've also had to minimize the number of people during these taping sessions, and we now take separate vehicles to the taping location.

“But probably the biggest change I will have to get used to is standing 6 feet away from the people I'm interviewing.

“It feels very different from those days when I could still offer them a hug or a shoulder to cry on.”

What is Vicky's wish?

Vicky may be known for making wishes come true, but even the 'Fairy Godmother ng Bayan' has a fervent wish during this difficult time.

“Sana makapag-magic tayo ng bakuna kontra-COVID sa lalong madaling panahon.

“And once that happens, I hope we don't lose the lessons we learned from this dark time in our era: we need to look out not just for ourselves and our families, but also for the people around us who put on their brightest smiles even as they deal with their personal struggles.

“I pray we all survive this and come out of it more compassionate and more concerned for one another.”

Message to Kapuso fans

To celebrate the return of 'Wish Ko Lang', Vicky expressed her gratitude to all the loyal Kapuso who supported the program for almost two decades.

“I want to say thank you to each one of them for loving this show--and for being the reason why the show is back.

“Wish Ko Lang is the story of our lives. It's the story of hope, of faith, of kindness, and of family.

“Ito ang mga superpower natin para malampasan ang ano mang problema.

“Just make sure to have some tissue with you when you watch Wish Ko Lang's new episodes.

“Prepare to be surprised by what many of us are willing to do for our families to survive this crisis.

“Prepare to be moved by the kindness coming from even the most unexpected places.

“And prepare to cry along with the people who get to see their wishes granted.”

Watch all-new episodes of 'Wish Ko Lang' beginning July 11, Saturday, at 4 p.m. on GMA-7.
