Ruru Madrid responds to bashers who called him a 'clout chaser'

By Cara Emmeline Garcia

Kapuso actor Ruru Madrid bravely faced his online haters when he expressed his admiration for BTS member Kim Taehyung or V.

It can be recalled that on July 15, the actor posted a mirror selfie of himself on Instagram that made most fans squeal with excitement to see Ruru closely resembling the K-pop idol.

A few days later, he posted a song cover of Kim Taehyung's “Sweet Night” to thank fans for their support and the warm welcome he's received from Pinoy fans of BTS collectively known as PH ARMYs.

He said in the post, “This is dedicated to all my supporters.

“To my Rurunatics family, thank you for everything! To all the ARMYs, thank you for making me feel your love! Borahae!”

While the two posts generally received a positive response from fans, a few criticized the actor for simply joining a trend to the point that they even called him a “clout chaser.”

In response to these bashers, Ruru asked on his Twitter account: “Masama bang humanga? Masama bang sumuporta?

“Ang sakit lang na ang sama mag-isip ng mga tao ngayon.”

Since its posting, the tweet has already received more than 4,000 Likes on the platform with fans asking the actor to not mind the haters.

One fan even wrote, “Don't mind them Ruru. Sabi nga ng Bangtan, 'Do your thing, do your thing with me now.'”

The lyrics were in reference to the BTS single “Black Swan,” which talks about the fear that comes with possibly losing their passion for the arts, but in the end, the septet realizes that what means the most to them is the art they create.
