Ben&Ben releases 'Lifetime' music video

By Cara Emmeline Garcia

Since releasing their latest single “Lifetime,” indie-folk pop band Ben&Ben has finally released its accompanying music video and it's giving everyone the feels.

In the three-minute music video, we meet the protagonist, an artist, who lovingly painted a portrait of a girl in yellow with curly black hair that appeared in his dream.

As he hangs his portrait of her, the girl surprisingly appears before him making the museum the perfect place for the two to get to know each other.

The sad part is, he was only dreaming.

This imagery complemented the lines of the song, “You were a good dream” and "was there a lifetime waiting for us in a world where I was yours."

Since its upload, the video has already garnered more than 140,000 views, 40,000 likes, and has landed #7 in YouTube's trending videos in the Philippines.

On June 1, Ben&Ben revealed that “Lifetime” is based on a fan's story of repressed feelings towards her best friend that could've led to something more -- if only she were honest.

Posted on their music video for “Pagtingin,” a netizen named Anna Jou wrote, “I had a best friend during high school whom I liked but I never told him because I was scared of losing our friendship and also him himself.

“So instead of telling him what I felt, I hid and buried my feelings. And you know what happens to feelings that are buried? They grow.

“Before his wedding, he thanked me for being his best friend and told me that before he met the girl he got married to, he loved me first. For 5 years.

“But he was also scared of losing me so he just decided to keep it. I was shocked and I slightly had anger towards the world.

"We didn't know that if only one of us dared to make a move, a lifetime was waiting for us.”

Recently, Ben&Ben made waves in South Korean music charts after the band scored a sweet spot in the streaming service Melon Charts with their song "Leaves."

Their songs have also been receiving a lot of praise from K-pop idols such as TWICE members Momo and Sana, and Red Velvet's Wendy.
